About Kernow Fires

Where Kernow Fires Began

Back when clean-glass technology was new and woodburners were the talk of the town, Simon Breckon, in his family's humble grain and coal store perched on top of a Wadebridge hill, had a lightbulb moment. While others were busy bagging coal, Simon spotted the spark of something special in these revolutionary woodburning stoves.

Armed with determination (and a fair bit of friendly family eye-rolling), he carved out a corner of the storage room for their very first woodburner display. What started as a "crazy idea" quickly caught fire - soon Simon was installing stoves by day and expanding the showroom by night. Decades later, that same passion still burns bright at Kernow Fires, though these days Simon's got a bit more help than just his trusty toolbox and determination!

Growing With The Times

If there's one thing that defines Kernow Fires, it's our love of innovation. While we might have started with woodburners, Simon's endless curiosity and eye for quality has kept us at the cutting edge of home heating for over three decades.

Our passion for excellence has led to wonderful partnerships with both British and European manufacturers, some even creating bespoke designs specifically for our Cornish customers. As tastes and technologies evolved, so did we - expanding from traditional woodburners to showcase stunning gas fires and state-of-the-art electric solutions including being early adopters of Everhot's revolutionary electric cookers, seeing their potential before they became a kitchen must-have.

Year after year, our showroom has transformed to reflect the changing face of home heating, but one thing remains constant: our commitment to finding the perfect fireplace for every home. Whether it's the most efficient woodburner, the most striking design, or the latest in sustainable heating technology, we're always looking ahead to what's next.

Our Journey Continues

The past five years have been a whirlwind of change in our industry, and we wouldn't have it any other way! While others saw challenges in new regulations and shifting markets, our dynamic team saw opportunities to innovate and grow. We've streamlined our systems, expanded our horizons, and created something truly special here in Cornwall.

Our design team has pushed creative boundaries we never knew existed, crafting spectacular feature walls that are more like works of art than simple fireplaces. From cozy wood burners to cutting-edge vapor fires, from intimate indoor spaces to ambitious outdoor kitchens - every project brings new excitement and possibilities.

What started as a passion project has blazed into something amazing! Our Fire & Food events have become must-attend occasions, where our team of talented chefs share their expertise on everything from casual beach BBQs to mastering the Big Green Egg. There's nothing we love more than spreading the joy of outdoor cooking and seeing that spark ignite in others.
